The Academy at The App is excited to announce our Spring 2021 classes!  

 

We have fun filled offerings for all ages and interests so come on out and stretch those creative minds!  Each 6-week session will meet in person at The Appalachian Center for The Arts.   

The App will observe all State and local health guidelines in place at the time of class meetings - up to and including masks and social distancing.

 

Creative Play

Teachers: Erick Buckley and Shannon  Daniels

Price: $60

 

Get ready animals!  Each week, students will develop their beginning acting skills as they explore improvisation techniques,creative theatre games and crafts based on the popular children’s book “Giraffes Can’t Dance”.  We’ll practice topics such as listening, movement, imagination, and more! 

 

Recommended ages: 4-7

Date: Saturdays, 2/6-3/13 

Time: 10:30-11:15 am

Theatre Design Lab

Teacher: Shannon Daniels

Price: $60

 

Using the classic story of “Alice In Wonderland”, students will explore various elements of theatre.  In this hands-on class, we’ll create a model set, play with sound effects and lighting, work on costume designs, and even build a prop or two!

 

Recommended ages: 7-13

Date: Every Saturdays, 2/6-3/13

Time: 1:00-2:15 pm

Acting One

Teachers: Erick Buckley and Shannon Daniels

Price: $60

 

Students will build their acting, communication and listening skills through improv games, group exercises and  monologue and scene work.  This class will cumulate in a free showcase for family and friends. 

 

Recommended ages: 8-12

Dates: Tuesdays, 2/2-3/9

Time: 6:30-7:30 pm

Tech Theatre

Teacher: James Cantrell

Price: $60

 

An introduction, discussion, and practical application about three of the main technical elements of a theatrical production.  Students will learn communication skills, Scenic design, Sound design, Lighting design and technical direction.   

 

 

 Recommended ages 13+

Date Wednesdays, 2/3-3/10

Time: 4:30-5:30 pm

Acting Two

Price: $60

 

Students will strengthen their acting, communication and listening skills through improv games, group exercises and monologue and scene work.   This class will cumulate in a free showcase for family and friends.

Dates: Thursdays 2/4-3/11

Time: 6:30-7:30 pm
